A Joyful Start

A Joyful Start

On July 27, our church buzzed with excitement as we kicked off our very first Children’s Church. Approximately 20 children aged 2-12 gathered to participate in a fun-filled, spiritually enriching program. We began with a cheerful welcome song, followed by our theme text and a heartfelt prayer.

The kids then dove into a lively praise and worship session, their voices ringing with enthusiasm. Next, they settled in for a captivating children’s story that had them all eagerly listening. As the session continued, the children split into groups for a craft session tailored to their ages (2-5, 6-9, and 10-12).

Gail White, one of the organizers, reflected on the day: “It was a refreshing experience for me. It was wonderful to see the children so engaged and excited. They even asked if we were going to do this every week. Even some of the kids that were apprehensive at first calmed after a while. It was heartwarming to see them express themselves in a space designed for them.”

One young attendee, Joshua, had previously told Gail that he found the regular service boring and couldn’t wait for Sabbath to end. But after the inaugural Children’s Church, he told her how much he enjoyed it, a sentiment echoed by several other kids. Gail shared, “If we lose our children, we lose the future of the church. Stats already show that 80% of SDA youth leave the church. How can we change that? I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, so I’m glad we finally started.”

We are grateful for our dedicated volunteers and always welcome more to help ensure we provide consistent, high-quality ministry to these young ones. Gail expressed her hopes for the future: “With God’s blessings, we will have a different cadre of youth in the future – willing to serve the church and Christ!”

Join us in this exciting journey as encourage our youngest members in their faith and prepare them to be leaders in our church community.

The next Children’s Church will be on August 24, and will be held twice monthly on the first and third Sabbaths.
